Something I'm not a fan of but interesting non-the-less: During cold winter camping keep a pee jar in your tent to avoid getting out in the elements. Personally, I'd rather just water the bushes than lug around an old peanut butter jar that I know has urine residue in it.

I was backpacking along Kennison Mountain , just outside the Cranberry Wilderness boundry heading north to the cranberry River, and got caught in DEC 28th 29th30th snow storm in 1984. I had to set up shelter and the winds were so powerful that the wind chill was -25 below, and snow accumulated more that 30 inches. I tried to use the Bathroom during the night and wohaaaaaa too cold for just long johns, My exposed skin was freezing, so for the next couple days I pee pee in a zip lock bag and when I did adventure out during the day to move my bones I would dispose of it. I have never told anyone of this story until know. Getting up in the middle of the nigh and putting all your layers on was not worth it, so for me the Zipp Lock was well worth using. I had a dog with me also and I'm glad she didn't want to use the same bag, a quart zip lock was just enough for me lol. ;D
