The Appalachian Trail by Ronald M. Fisher (1972) is not a technical how-to read rather a study of trail towns and people met along a north bound journey. It's a National Geographic publication so it has the trademark photography throughout its pages. I particularly enjoyed seeing some of the outdated gear that would be shunned by some contemporary hikers. But they made it non-the-less. I give this read 3 1/2 stars out of five.
