This place scares me. We should plan a car camping trip close by this place one weekend. Visit Nelson Rocks and Seneca Rocks one day and then a trip up to Dolly Sods the next Can I walk across that bridge? ? I don't know, but I'd like to try. Has anybody been here? www.nelsonrocks.org/

Those rope bridges remind me of pictures I've seen of Peru. SHAKEY ;D Someone has a very nice piece of real estate up there. I'd like to check that out as well.

It's hard to believe someone can own a piece of property like this. But, at least they have opened it up to the public for a small fee. I believe it said for 5 bucks you can walk around it on their trails which would be worth it.
We'll have to talk about putting this on the calender sometime. I know The Frig is fired up about doing it.

Whitedove!! I vote that you be the leader in getting this going. Pick a date and let's see if everyone who wants to go can work it out. A holiday weekend would be good.

Did anyone read the disclaimer at the bottom of the Nelson Rocks Reserve website?...It's hilarious. I love it. After reading it, maybe it's not such a good idea to try and cross that bridge. ;D

Hikerhead the ball is tossed to you. I'm with a different hospital every month on rotations and my schedule is too unpredictable to plan anything.

Well, OK ;D Lets try for Labor Day Weekend. We could either car camp at the Seneca Shadows campground or go up and camp at Dollysods. I kind of like the car camping thing for this trip, that way we can scoot around to Nelson Rocks, day hike Dolly Sods, we could day hike up the northern end of North Folk Mtn and maybe hit a couple of the local joints for some grub. Seneca Shadows campground is right across the road from Seneca Rocks, a good central location. 9 people that have shown interest in this so far. Albaugh and wife (Trailname?) That's a great date! I do know I will have that weekend off. I think the car camping idea is a good one, my vote goes for that.

Here's a good site showing a lot of what's available in this area. Take a look at the Smoke Hole campground. It's on the river and might be a better choice than Seneca Shadows. Is anyone familiar with the campgrounds in this area...Frig? www.fs.fed.us/r9/mnf/sp/srdc.html
