North Fork Mountain Trail
Monongahela National Forest 23.8 miles, moderate to difficult Trailhead at parking area off U.S. 33
This high-country tail stretches from Judy Gap to Smoke Hole Caverns, following the eastern slope of North Fork Mountain near its ridge line. Spectacular scenery abound upon its level summit -- vistas of the Germany Valley, Spruce Mountain, Seneca Rocks, the Potomac Valley, the Fore Knobs, and the Dolly Sods Wilderness.

;D NORT FORK TRIP REPORT .
I highly recommend anyone who enjoys views of a very special kind to hike the North Fork. Picture paradise.
The trail Is marked very well and in excellent condition although we did have to skirt around one area because of snow drifts 4 feet high, no kiddin, and some of the 2 and 3 feet drifts we could walk on top occasionaly stepping through up to your rear end.
Eleven total hiker on this trip , some as far away as Connecticut, PA, NJ, Kentucky, and good ole Va and West Va. Two dogs, Mindy and Angie
I will be downloading some pics at webshots by the end of the week, I'm recovering from aching bones from being too young, HEheheh.....
The views along this trail is as it is advertised by outside magazine, as the most scenic trail in West Virginia. Views both east and west, and at some points looking North and South along the spine as some of the pics will show.
I will be back to this trail within the next couple months as the season changes.
Paragon Falcons are protected along the Northern section of the trail at Chimmney rocks , but the trail will eventually put you right on the Chimmney rock area. so no need to bush wack and desturb the nesting Falcons.
As i was standing there looking west at the awesome view , I often wondered about the Indians , actually the Sceneca Indians whom roamed the mountains, as to how they had sight of what now is a vanashing part of our lives, and thank GOD I live in a country FREE to see what they also saw.....a very powerful message to anyone who stands on the rock edges and looks west.
Pics comming end of the week, sorry I am just too tired,
