GPS

I bought a Garmin GPS last year and only used it 3 out of 11 treks I did last year.

I have in the past always used a TOPO and Compass and never needed anything else, so since the gear GURU was in my head I thought I would buy a GPS.

Some times In the Backcountry under cover with Canopy forest, I could not get a signal. I bought a $300.00 Garmin GPS and I stillthink It's a rip off.

Yea I know you can get coordinates where ever you are , but if your just the average Backpacker, do you really need this GPS?
